Some camps have an evening lights out policy which can be earlier than you are used to in 'normal' life. Head back to your village or cabin and start getting ready for bed. This is a great chance to unwind from the day and catch up with friends. Usually you will have an evening activity for example, a camp dance, a sporting event or just a social event. Take some time to just relax before the evening schedule.

Expect lots of noise, songs and food!Ĭhat with friends, hang out, go on the internet, watch tv, the choice is yours. Some camps have a flat lowering ceremony followed by special events. You could listen to music, write letters, play cards/games, have a sleep or just prepare for the afternoon activities. There are usually lots of options for all interests and dietary needs.Īfter lunch usually all staff and campers head back to cabins to relax. Expect food to be different every day, usually there is a mix of fried and fresh food including pasta, hamburgers, soups and deserts. Expect a selection of food and lots of songs. Sometimes morning or afternoon activities are for you to join with your cabin or group allowing campers and counsellors to participate together. Head back to cabins to tidy cabins, clean beds, shelves, and take recycling and rubbish out.ĭuring the day there are different activities available where staff can instruct sports and lessons whilst campers can choose what they would like to do. T’fillah: Most nights, camp participates in a short T’fillah service where everyone has the opportunity to appreciate and understand their Jewish identity in a beautiful camp setting.Įvening Programs: No matter what it is, Jacobs campers throw themselves enthusiastically into every one of their unit’s exciting evening programs.īedtime: Campers make sure to shower every night as part of their bedtime routine. Prep for Dinner: Campers typically change out of the clothes they’ve been wearing all day and put on clean clothes to go to dinner.Ĭhofesh: Chofesh is free time where everyone in camp can hang out together. On Sundays, Tuesdays & Thursdays, everyone takes time to write a letter home.Ĭanteen: After some nice rest, campers will excitedly head to the breezeway for Canteen, where they can choose from a variety of delicious afternoon snacks.Ĭhugim: Campers in Garin through Chalutzim get a choice each week what activity they want to try out whether that be calligraphy, net games, or cloud busting. Rest Hour: Rest hour is a great time to relax and play quietly with bunkmates, read, or nap. Once Nikayon is over, cabins walk to the breezeway to line up for lunch together. Nikayon: Back at the cabin, everyone first cleans their individual areas in the cabin before moving on to his assigned activity for the day whether it’s the toilets, the sinks, the showers, or another task, everyone is expected to do their part. This allows everyone in the cabin to try something new together from cooking to biking everyone is encouraged to give it a try. It is one of the most exciting times of the day, a fun time to be loud with friends.Ĭabin Activities: Every day campers have at least one activity as a cabin together. Song Session: Everyone participates in song session. When it is time to clean up, everyone helps get the table cleared quickly. Each cabin will then enjoy a hearty breakfast, family style. Two campers from each table will walk up to the service room and grab platters with enough food for the entire table. Each cabin will head to their assigned table and once everyone is seated, we sing Ha-motzi together. By 8:00, the campers are on their way to breakfast and an action-packed day!īreakfast (all meals): Campers usually have a few minutes to socialize with each other in the breezeway before everyone is called into the dining hall for breakfast. Campers will wake up to the alarms set by their counselors, brush their teeth and get dressed. Wake-up: Sunday through Friday, wake-up is at 7:30 AM (Saturdays, wake-up is at 9:00).
